What is Village Screen?

Village Screen is a rural community cinema scheme providing quality film screenings in community venues throughout Norfolk. Volunteer groups screen the latest blockbuster or a timeless classic in the comfort of their local village hall or community centre, supported by Creative Arts East with films licensed through Moviola. The events offer an opportunity for neighbours to meet, socialise and relax – less travel and lower cost means many rural residents can enjoy the magic of the silver (or in our case, white) screen.

How's it work at the Court House?

Run by volunteers, we been showing the best of current films to the village since 2009. We screen films about 8 times a year (February to June and September to November), usually on the second Friday of the month, with matinee (2.30) and evening (7.30) showings. Doors open half an hour before the performances start.

After a brief welcome, we usually show a trailer for the next film and a short film or two, and take  a break for refreshments before the main feature. We serve tea, coffee, cakes and Ronaldo's locally produced  ice cream in the afternoon and wine, beer, soft drinks and ice cream in the evening. The shows normally finish around 4.45 in the afternoon and 9.45 in the evening depending on the length of the main film.

How do I get a ticket?

Tickets are £5.00 in advance available about a month before the show from S&S Mitchell Newsagents, The Street, Blofield. Please note that return tickets cannot be accepted less than 7 days before event. Money from the films goes towards paying the licence fees, running the Court House and improving our facilities.

How can I find out what's on?

The easiest way is to sign up to our mailing list for monthly advance notifications of films and events or check out our Facebook page. Or while you're here, see the What's On page.

In addition, to publicise our upcoming films we display a poster outside the Court House (printed locally in Great Yarmouth by  DisplayPro), have smaller fliers posted around the area and are listed in Focal Point newsletter, the parish church's Blofield News and the Parish Council's Facebook page.
